We held a fantastic event at The Langham, London, with the support of Janet Broomfield, Global Director of Sales – ALHI. It was a truly impactful evening for all who attended on so many levels. Let me tell you why.
We started with a lovely drinks reception in The Langham’s Courtyard Garden, which set a relaxed and elegant atmosphere for connecting and chatting before dinner. Believe it or not (for those reading this in London), the sun came out and was glorious. The Langham offers a variety of event spaces to suit different needs, and that courtyard was made for summer drinks receptions. It’s gorgeous.
After drinks, we moved on to our dinner, and we were in the beautiful conservatory room.
For our dinner, we were fortunate to have Charlotte Pearce, an inspiring speaker supported at the event by Leading Authorities International, join us. Charlotte is a multi-award winning tech entrepreneur on a mission to bring the heart and head of business together. Charlotte shared insightful thoughts on resilience and authenticity, leaving everyone feeling motivated. It’s so important to us that we showcase excellent speakers for our members, speakers we think would work so well for our members’ organisations, and Charlotte did just that. She was BRILLIANT. At the end of Charlotte’s talk, she had us do a mini exercise, which I won’t give specifics about (you need to book her), but honestly, that five-minute exercise has had me pondering what I wrote down for a week.
Following Charlotte’s talk, we enjoyed a fantastic dinner with dishes prepared by The Langham’s talented culinary team. The food was, as always, next level, as you can see from the images included below. It was the perfect menu of lobster, beef, and a sublime dessert. The champagne was amazing, and we had some wonderful non-alcoholic options as well. This format for events works so well. I was an impactful speaker over dinner, and the format provided a great opportunity for engaging in conversations and making new connections.
As above, our event was made possible with the support of Janet & ALHI, who are committed to the event and the travel industry. They serve as the global sales and marketing extension to over 250 global hotels and resorts, cruise lines, and destination management companies, and it was so good to chat with some of the hotel reps who joined us. I made amazing contacts with properties I will use or have used in the past, and it was so great to hear about them. Nothing is more important to us than building strong relationships in our roles as event professionals; that is why these networking events are so important. It lets our members build strong relationships with many suppliers and network with other event managers.
A huge thanks to The Langham for hosting us and for their excellent facilities, and to Janet & ALHI and Charlotte Pearce for being with us. We came away with inspired memories (and members) and a strong sense of purpose. We look forward to future events at this outstanding venue and to working with some of the wonderful properties we met that are part of ALHI.
