Down Hall is a countryside property located less than 1 hour from central London in the beautiful Essex countryside. A four star country house, Down Hall provides ample opportunities to hold events for smaller intimate events to larger events that require exclusive use of the property.
We enjoyed a fabulous 24 hours at Down Hall for our FAM trip, we were welcomed with a delicious afternoon tea (make sure you have the savoury tarts when you are there!) in one of the four private meeting spaces within the Mansion House. These four meeting rooms are perfect for boardroom meetings; lunches; private dining; and of course afternoon tea! They all benefit from natural daylight overlooking the grounds with high ceilings and a modern décor incorporating the Edwardian features. Each room also has AV equipment and additional AV can also be provided as required. As well as natural daylight one of the spaces has direct access to the garden terrace which would be a fabulous space for a BBQ, informal lunch or a drinks reception before dinner. It is a super cute area with fairy lights and an outdoor bar.
As well as the four meeting rooms within the Mansion House, the hotel also has a further ten event spaces within the West Wing. The ballroom can accommodate up to 200 people in theatre style or 180 for banqueting. The ballroom also incorporates the modern look and feel with the Edwardian charm overlooking a gorgeous terrace which would be perfect for networking drinks / breaks during the summer. There is also another suite which can accommodate up to 110 delegates along with a suite that can accommodate up to 60 for a private dinner with an adjacent space for drinks as well with its own bar.
Down Hall has 110 acres of land providing so many opportunities for team building to be incorporated into your event. They can work with your preferred supplier to include activities, a marquee, garden games etc to enhance your event further. They also have a number of activities on site including tennis, paddle tennis or just a stroll through the gardens. There is a kitchen garden providing large volumes of fresh produce for the hotel which contributes to their sustainability policy and the team would be happy to discuss how you can incorporate the kitchen garden into your event.
The hotel has gorgeous bedrooms, the bedrooms in the Mansion House also have a fabulous lounge area outside the rooms providing informal networking areas if you did have this wing exclusively. The free-standing bathtubs in some of the bedrooms just scream pure relaxation! As well as the classic and deluxe bedrooms, the hotel also has a number of suites which are brilliant for VIPs or to be used as informal spaces for a green room in the lounge area as the bedroom can be closed off.
We had a fabulous 24 hours at Down Hall, as well as afternoon tea, we had time to enjoy the spa and relax in our bedrooms before an evening of entertainment. After exploring the above event spaces and understanding more about their sustainability ambitions (watch this space…), we had a fun cocktail making masterclass followed by a gorgeous private dining experience. The food was outstanding and the service was top notch!
