After a 90 minute journey from London, we arrived at the stunning Lygon Arms which is situated in the most beautiful village! It really is like what movies represent the English countryside as.
The hotel dates back to 1620 and everywhere you look you can feel the history (only friendly spirits here we are told…) which as history buffs all our guests loved and I’m sure your delegates would feel the same.
Upon arrival, we all caught up over a cup of tea or coffee before heading into the lounge area for lunch. The menu is fabulous with lots of choices to cater to all dietaries. After tucking into a variety of dishes from burgers, catch of the day, salads, and of course, the mac and cheese were ordered as a side by many all washed down with some champagne.
With a belly full of food and lots of energy to burn off, we headed into one of the meeting rooms – the Drawing Room- where we were greeted by the wonderful team at Wildfire Experience Agency. Nathan and Tony were fabulous at getting us excited and competitive for our team-building activity. Our task was to split into teams and film a commercial for the hotel!!! It was so much fun and really did bond us especially as it was the first time many of us had seen each other for a while. With a variety of costumes, a rough outline of the plot and a camera in hand off we went to film the advert. It was a great way to see the hotel as well as bring us all together to work as a team. After getting our acting skills on, we all returned to the meeting room to watch our finished product – it was so funny! We had guest appearances from the Lygon Arms’ lion, some of the friendly ghosts, Liz Taylor, and even Prince William! A number of Eventprofslive Oscars were awarded for best actress, funniest moment, best director, etc. We highly recommend reaching out to Nathan at Wildfire to understand how they can incorporate a team-building activity into your event. They also offer a number of other services including venue finding, sourcing props, incentive trips, and much more.
Next up on the agenda was some free time. A number of us visited the spa, explored the gorgeous village with their cute stores, and made the most of the gorgeous bedrooms. The hotel has 86 bedrooms, across the main house to the garden rooms and suites.
After some relaxation time, we all caught up around the fire for some champagne cocktails with an overview from their in-house mixologist along with a warm welcome from their General Manager.
Lisa and Christina provided us with a tour of the event spaces. The main space can take up to 80 people but if you take exclusive use of the hotel this can increase further. There are also grounds for outdoor activities – this is where Nathan can help you as well. View the event spaces here.
At this stage, we had worked up an appetite and were looking forward to dinner in the Cromwell Room which is full of history. We enjoyed a fabulous dinner with our usual fun and interesting chats taking place with lots of laughs. It really was the perfect Sunday.
Lygon Arms is the perfect escape for retreats, incentives, away days, etc in a relaxed and beautiful setting. Head to our Instagram account to see more photos and Reels from the event!
