One Aldwych (October 2018)

Housed in one of the most important Edwardian buildings in London is One Aldwych, one of London’s most iconic hotels.  The building officially became the hotel we have come to know and love in 1998 and prior to that it was home to The Ministry of Defence, Lloyds Bank and was even one of London’s most popular Brasseries. One Aldwych stands prominently on The Strand and whilst we all know it’s there, very few of us have been in, so, it was great that not one of our members had been before and we were able to help show it off.

Our event started with a lovely glass of prosecco in The Lobby Bar which is very very glamorous and named as one of the top five bars in the world by The Sunday Telegraph.  It has a lovely buzzy vibe and some outstanding olives haha! It was a lovely relaxed atmosphere to catch-up with our members and a brand newbie attending her first event with us. Taken exclusively for your event, it would make for a stunning location for a drinks reception.

After our bubbles, it was off for a tour of the hotel and all the varying event spaces which would suit a wide range of corporate events.  Our favorite was the screening room which can seat up to 30 guests.  There are six meeting and event spaces in total all with state-of-the-art technology and the latest audio-visual equipment and that all-important complimentary WiFi.  You can read all about the meeting and event spaces here.

After the event spaces, it was time to see the spec for one of the soon to be refurbished bedrooms.  The hotel is due to be refurbed at the end of the year and whilst we can’t share any specifics of how the bedrooms are going to look, we can say that they look amazing!!

After our site visit, it was off to Indigo for a dinner.  Indigo is one of One Aldwych’s restaurants (the other is the amazing Eneko).  The menu is entirely dairy and gluten free and the food was outstanding.  Executive Chef Dominic Teague uses the finest seasonal ingredients to produce an outstanding menu.  Our members loved it and I personally can’t wait to go back.  The gluten-free bread with olive oil is outstanding, I think I got through three pieces!!

As well as Indigo for private hire, you can take Eneko for up to 110 and it is well worth considering when looking for a private dining space for a group that size.  A few weeks prior to our event, Kate and I were lucky enough to eat here and the modern showcase on traditional Basque food by Michelin starred Chef Eneko Atxa was out of this world amazing!

We loved our site visit at One Aldwych and can’t wait to go back post-refurb. It is going to look amazing… For more information on One Aldwych, you can reach out to Sarah, our lovely host for the event from Pineapple Hotels, here.
