Alexander House FAM (December 2024)

Last Friday, we had the pleasure of hosting our EventProfsLive members at the stunning Alexander House Hotel for a fam trip. Alexander House is part of the Alexander Hotel Collection, a collection of hotels we have visited with our members many times over the past (almost) ten years. You can read about some of our previous events here. We love the Friday-Saturday format—it minimizes time away from the office while allowing for a relaxed Saturday to explore the property at leisure.

Hosted by Sarah Houghton (Group Director of Sales), this particular fam trip couldn’t have been better timed. With the busy year winding down and Christmas just weeks away, it offered a welcome opportunity to unwind while discovering a fabulous venue to add to our event repertoire. It’s also perfectly timed as we event planners start to map out out our 2025 events. This property is perfect for retreats & away days and, if you can, a full buyout for your event would be so special.

Here’s a detailed look at why we think Alexander House Hotel is a standout option for corporate events, team-building, and beyond.

Location & Accessibility

Nestled in the peaceful West Sussex countryside, Alexander House Hotel feels like a tranquil retreat yet remains easily accessible—just 36 miles from London.

  • By Train: A 1-hour 39-minute journey from London Victoria to East Grinstead.
  • By Car: Only a 56-minute drive.

This prime location makes it a convenient choice for both city-based teams and those traveling from further afield.

Meeting & Event Spaces

Alexander House Hotel offers a variety of event spaces designed to suit gatherings of all sizes. You can view full capacities here.

  • Shelley Suite: The largest space, complete with modern amenities and access to a private garden.
  • Wakehurst Suite: A versatile room featuring its own terrace.
  • Boardroom: Perfect for formal business meetings.
  • Asquith Suite: Great for intimate private dining or small board meetings.
  • Churchill Suite: A sophisticated setting for meetings and dinners.
  • Chalfont Suite: A charming, oak-paneled room ideal for private gatherings.

What We Loved

The event spaces aren’t the only highlights. The hotel’s reputation for exceptional service is well-earned, with corporate clients frequently praising its dedicated event coordinators who ensure every detail is flawless.

For us, the mix of luxurious meeting spaces and the serene surroundings was ideal—there’s something uniquely inspiring about working in a countryside retreat and delegates love it.

Wine & Dining

Alexander House Hotel also knows how to impress with its culinary offerings. From an extensive global wine list to the exquisite menus at AG’s 3-Rosette restaurant and the relaxed dining at Reflections Restaurant, there’s something to satisfy every taste.

We were lucky enough to sample the cuisine at our dinner and it was outstanding. The paired wine list had a lot of variety as well which we loved. There are also plenty of cosy spaces to encourage post dinner networking for you group alongside a late night bar.

Team Building & Leisure Activities

An event here isn’t complete without taking advantage of the exceptional team-building opportunities and leisure facilities:

  • Outdoor Activities: Explore the expansive 120-acre estate with hiking trails and nature walks.
  • Sports: Tennis courts and a state-of-the-art gym are available for more active pursuits.
  • Workshops: Customizable sessions designed to build team cohesion.
  • Spa Experiences: The Utopia Spa is a standout feature, with plunge pools, a yoga studio, and indulgent beauty treatments that our members absolutely adored.

Facilities & Accommodation

The attention to detail extends to every corner of Alexander House Hotel:

  • Accommodation: Elegant rooms with large beds, marble bathrooms, and designer toiletries offer ultimate comfort. There are 57 in total, we stayed in the suites, and they were gorgeous. Situated just outside of the main house, they had loads of space and their own private outdoor terraces.
  • Parking: Ample free parking makes visits stress-free for delegates who choose to drive.

Final Thoughts

This fam was the perfect blend of work and relaxation, and Alexander House Hotel surpassed our expectations on every front. Its blend of luxury, convenience, and thoughtful service makes it a standout choice for corporate events, team-building retreats, or even a quick getaway to recharge.

We’re thrilled to have added Alexander House Hotel to our repertoire and can’t wait to see how our members use this property for their events in the future.
