A Scottish experience at the Caledonian Club (October 2019)

The Caledonian Club is a private members club in the heart of London and last week we were lucky enough to experience the wonderful Scottish hospitality that awaits you if you hold an event here.

The Caledonian Club is super easy to find as it is a short walk away from Hyde Park Corner but if our members were still unsure on how to find the venue, all they had to do was follow their ears as we were welcomed by a piper outside the club –  a truly Scottish start to the evening!!!  After being mesmerised by the welcome we continued the Scottish private dining experience in the Oval Room which is a beautiful space on the ground floor which can hold up to 16 people for dinner with ample of room for a drinks reception before the dinner – if it is a warm day/evening you could hold your drinks reception in the beautiful courtyard which is connected to the Oval Room.   This year the club held over 40 dinners to celebrate Burns Nights and we got to experience a taste of what the attendees experienced earlier in the year which included a mini version of the haggis ceremony which none of us had experienced before and we loved the history behind the ceremony.  As well as witnessing the ceremony, we got to taste the haggis (they even managed to find haggis suitable for our variety of dietary requirements) as part of our 4-course dinner.   There are various other elements that the club would be delighted to work with you on to add to your Scottish experience including a whiskey tasting and even post-dinner dancing!!

The club has 9 event spaces in total and can hold up to 200 guests!  A great feature of the club is that there is a private entrance for any events that take place which makes it a very smooth process for you to welcome your guests, register them and direct them to the space without having to go through the private members’ entrance.  We all loved the Library which as the name suggests is the club’s library, which can hold up to 60 people for a drinks reception – it even has a secret door which we thought was brilliant, very Harry Potter!  The Johnnie Walker Room and Ballroom are perfect for conferences, dinners, and of course, weddings!   The entire club can be hired on weekends for a very reasonable fee making it perfect for a retreat, special celebration or wedding.   Reach out to Lyndsey Taylor and Abigail Duggan for further information on holding events at the Caledonian Club.
