Alison Price (March 2017)

We are well into our second year of events now at Eventprofslive, however, this month was a little different for a couple of reasons.

Both Kate and I work day in and day out with caterers. It’s an intricate part of an Event Managers’ role, so when we were approached by the fabulous Alison Price to do an event for our members, we, of course, jumped at the chance and our members did too.

We filled our spots on the event within a day of sending out the invitations and with all the pre-event social media buzz, it made for a pretty exciting week in the lead-up.

Alison Price was established 30 years ago with their goal to change the face of private and corporate catering and for me personally, their innovational ideas for food and styling has had me a fan ever since I have worked in the industry.  Alison Price works regularly with revered venues including Tate Britain, Tate Modern and the V&A to name just a few!

Alison Price is headquartered just by Oval station which is where some of their food tastings take place and where the location of our event took place.  Commencing at 6.30 pm with everyone arriving early {for a change}, we met the Alison Price team and caught up with each other on all things events, life and love over some amazing pink Champagne before heading off on a tour of their HQ.  We were fortunate enough to check out all of their unique and innovative props in their warehouse on the tour. Having just bought a new home I could seriously see a few of the more fabulous serving plates in my new kitchen (I wish I had brought a bigger handbag… jokes Alison Price)!

After the tour, we moved off to their kitchen where we took our seats ready for dinner. It is certainly something special to be in a kitchen, surrounded by the Chef’s whom explain and present their dishes whilst you are eating and our members loved it.  As well as being uber innovative, the team at Alison Price are pretty smart and came up with the idea of offering this kitchen dining experience called #dinessw9  (see here for details) and it was truly something special and we should know, we experienced it.

The menu for the evening was indeed a showcase and our eight (that’s right EIGHT-course meal) was subject to a multitude of Instagramming! We love a food picture and as you can see from our pictures, the presentation of each and every course was something of a marvel. I am sure each and every one of our guests loved it!

After dinner with a lot of wines paired perfectly with each course, we received a very very special surprise.  It was back  to the prop warehouse where an interactive doughnuts station was ready for us.  Now, whilst most of us were overheard complaining about eating too much not two minutes earlier… we literally attacked it!  The station had various different toppings and fillings for the doughnuts so you can master your own creations.  I had one comment on my Facebook posting saying simply “I hate you” ha ha …we were certainly on a sugar high afterwards and took a few sneaky ones home for “our partners”! This station would work so well at events for a sweet and interactive treat for your guests.  Both the surprise and novelty factor was a massive hit!

We finished up around 10.00 pm and thanked our hosts.  This was a truly special event and we thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with Alison Price and look forward to working with them again soon.
